TECNO Camon X pro Unboxing and First Impressions: A 24MP Selfie King

The TECNO Camon Xpro was launched recently in Lagos amongst other new market entrants that the African Mobile giant is introducing. This device which actually comes in two variants, the Camon X and Xpro are the successor to last year’s camera flagship, the Camon CX. Major upgrade this time is on the front facing camera with the Camon X spotting a 20MP and the Xpro spotting a 24MP front-facing camera.

Straight out of the box, you are greeted by a stunning and sturdy device, excitedly lightweighted with a little-curved edge which undoubtedly helps for a better grip. This device actually has a plastic body but you would hardly notice given the solid build that combines with a matte black color(in this case) and a gold surround finish. The Camon X Pro has the volume rockers, power button, Micro SD card and SIM slot to the right which is actually an all-new button placement from TECNO. To the lower end of the phone is the charging port, speaker grills, and headphone jack. The top and left corners of the phone are totally empty. Now in the box, you have an information manual, warranty card, and a boomplay music booklet. Also included are a USB cable, wall adapter and headphones. Also new in the box is an all back phone case that has TECNO doing away with the traditional open and close pouch.

Now what else is new?

The camera.

The Camon X and X pro are built to be selfie kings. Atleast that’s how TECNO puts it. The Xpro has a mega 24MP clear selfie camera with an f2.2 aperture and a same old 16MP back camera as seen in the older Camon versions. The front camera also has a support of dual flash and a mirror flash helping to compensate for lighting condition, especially in low light situations. To even make sure your selfies are the bomb, TECNO has added a bokeh mode for the front-facing camera. By now, you would think this device has a pro mode for the back camera, but no. Nothing is new there. A little disappointing, I know.

The X pro also features a Full HD Display of 18:9 aspect ratio almost totally thinning out those bezels for your on-screen viewing pleasure at a resolution of 2160 by 1080. The device also comes with a 64GB of ROM and a 4GB of RAM. Also fresh on this device is the latest Android Oreo 8.1 version and the latest version of the TECNO HiOs.

For security, TECNO has also featured an improved Facial ID which recognizes you at a glance. This is quite fast and impressive. Also is a smart fingerprint scanner for your extra insecurity issues. Some more things to note is that the device features a 3,750 MaH battery, fair enough I’d say given how they have been able to fit that in and still maintain such a streamlined body and lightweight design.

The device which I’m totally in love with already is powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-core processor, Mediatek Helio P23 processor.

While the Camon X is now available at any SLOT Limited outlets, 3C Hub, and TECNO Exclusive stores closest to you at a price of N58,900, the X pro will not hit the market until about a months time. so make sure to check me out on Twitter for new updates on this device.
