Nigerians have taken to social media for some days now to condemn the alleged sexual abuse of a group of women recently arrested by police officers in Abuja.
The women who were accused of being prostitutes were arrested during a raid on nightclubs in the federal capital city. Prostitution is illegal in the country but given the questionable nature of the Nigerian police force, indiscriminately arresting people and charging them for crimes they might not have committed, there’s been a protest demanding answers, and making sure it is not another demonstration of the inhumane conduct of officers of the Nigerian Police force.
Protest date: 4th of May, 2019
